Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Nail Polish Brand

25 Feb

Twinsie TuesdayI can’t really say that I have a favorite nail polish brand, but I have the most OPIs, so I guess that means it’s my favorite. Right? That’s how I chose to interpret it.

OPI_mani (7) WLcopyFor this design I started with OPI My Vampire is Buff, did some polka dots with OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, sponged on a little OPI Outback Aphrodisiac (which was crusted shut and was really, really difficult to open!) Although it’s not the original, I recently picked up some OPI My Private Jet and used that as an accent color. It’s pretty and gives a hint at how amazing the original must have been. This mani was so easy I decided to do all 10 digits. I didn’t use a base coat so we’ll see how long it lasts.

Twinsie Tuesday: Valentine’s Day Nails

11 Feb

Twinsie TuesdayI feel like I got a little carried away with these Valentine’s Day nails. I should’ve stopped at the pinkie and ring fingers. I like all of the aspects of this mani, just maybe not all together? I don’t know. Whatever.

Valentine's Day Nails
For this design I used OPI My Vampire is Buff, OPI Pink Friday, Sinful Colors Nirvana, OPI DS Reserve and Radiance, Sally Hansen Black Out and a few acrylics.

A couple hours later…

Valentine's Day Nails
Ahhh… That’s much better. I just couldn’t stand the crazy business that was happening. I like this so much better! It feels retro to me. Do you agree that the retake is better?

Twinsie Tueday Special: Anniversary

31 Jan

Twinsie Tuesday
Today marks the second anniversary of Twinsie Tuesday, hence the anniversary post. For this special post we were all assigned another Twinsie and were to redo their first TT post. I was paired up with Casey who is a recent addition to our group. Her first post was just earlier this month.

Chevron NailThis mani is a mish mash.  I love the pink and black chevron nail, plus a gorgeous holo.  Such a great combination.  Of course there are a few differences between my redo of Casey’s. The polishes I used for this mani were Sally Hansen Black Out, Sinful Colors Dream On, China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out and Icing Bedazzled. I topped it off with Chill Zone top coat.

Twinsie Tuesday: Nail Design from YouTube Tutorial

17 Sep

There are sooo many tutorials on YouTube, it wasn’t hard to find a nail design I wanted to try. I’m not generally a Hello Kitty fan, but this video caught my eye.

HelloKitty Nail Design

I just thought this design was so cute. I love that it’s a French tip. This was done in all acrylics. I was tempted to do the pink tips on my right hand and wear it for a couple days, but knew it would be frustrating to try to freehand the tips on with my non-dominant hand. Plus, I’m pretty hard on my nails lately and acrylic painted tips don’t fair very well to abuse.

Peach Pit

10 Jun

Or apricot pit. Apricot is probably more accurate being that it was the apricot face scrub in my shower that inspired this color combination.

PeachPitPolkaDotGradient (3) WLcopy

I originally just did a brown to peach colored gradient, but it looked very blah. So I added the polka dots. I used Finger Paints Sketchy Character and China Glaze Peachy Keen. Then I tried a new top coat that I picked up last week. I’m always curious to try new top coat in a never ending quest to find the next best thing. I’m not too impressed with Diamond Dry. It was thin, which I don’t necessarily mind. It smeared the polish and dried with a strange texture to it. I couldn’t feel anything strange about it, but if you zoom the picture you can see an interesting crystallized pattern to it. Odd. This type of top coat is good for when you need a layer of polish to dry quickly so you can tape over it. It’s nice and thin and dried quickly.
