Twinsie Tuesday: Oldest Untried

14 May

Today we’re showing our oldest untried polish. I don’t actually have that many untried polishes. When I first started blogging, I did a 30 days of untrieds challenge and I haven’t collected many since then.

Burst_polkadot_copper_teal (9) WLcopyI chose two polishes that I hadn’t previously used; Wet ‘n Wild Cougar Attack and NOPI Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a burst type design, so I busted out the tape and went at it. The polka dots broke the look up a little. It’s an unconventional color match up, but I really like it.

Blue and Black Dotticure

27 Feb

It’s been a while since I did a chevron so I decided to do the dotticure version.Dotticure_blue_black (1) WLcopyI love the combination of black and aqua-ish blue.  I used Wet ‘n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint and black acrylic.

Dotticure_blue_black (6) WLcopyHow do you like my short little nubby nails?  I’ve been trying to keep them a little shorter lately, but I broke my middle nail pretty low and there was nothing I could do but shorten them all.  Oh well.  They grow pretty fast, so they’ll be back to normal in a week.

Movember Moustache Monday

19 Nov

I was racking my brain trying to think of a clever way to do a moustache mani for today.  I didn’t want to do the same old thing.  I’m not sure why Mr. Potato Head popped in to my head, but I’m glad it did.

This little guy is pretty darn cute and that’s quite the moustache he sports.  This design was a challenge because I did it with my left hand.  I’m getting better with my non-dominant hand, but I still have to keep it pretty simple.

I used all Julep polishes for this mani.  I didn’t intentionally set out to use all Julep, it just sort of happened that way.  My base color is Julep Vera with polka dots in Julep Allyson.  Mr. Potato Head’s face is made up of Julep Brigitte (white), Molly (red) and Brandt (black).

I topped this off with a new top coat I bought on a whim at Peerless Beauty Supply called Chill Zone.  The bottle has little information on it and when I Google it I get almost nothing.  Has anyone else heard the Chill Zone top coat?  I need to use it a couple more times to form much of an opinion, but so far so good.  I had a teeny tiny bit of smearage on the highlight on the nose, but that’s it.  I’ll keep you posted as to my thoughts on this one.

Let Mr. Potato Head’s moustache remind you to encourage the men you love to take care of themselves and get their physicals and do their self checks.  Don’t forget to check out the links for other Movember inspired manis.  Click here to to check out my other moustache designs.

Mish Mash Nails

7 Jun

I started swimming lessons with my little one this week.  Chlorine is rough on a mani.  Poor OPI It’s My Year that I posted yesterday didn’t fair so well.  I had plans for it, so I had to repolish to do this mani for you.

I took the opportunity to try layering it over black.  It looks very different over black.  Alone, It’s My Year is a pretty, medium purple with a gold shimmer/micro glitter.  Over black, you really only see the shimmer.  The sheer purple base is camouflaged by the black.  That’s okay though, because it still looks awesome, as I’m sure you can see.

I knew I wanted to so some designs in black over the top of this polish, I just couldn’t decide what design I wanted to do.  So I did all of them. :)   This is my first mish mash mani and I love it!  I like the uniformity in color, but the variety in design makes it super fun and interesting.

My pinkie looks like a buttoned up vest or something.  The center of my leopard spots on my ring finger is OPI Outback Aphrodisiac.  The inspiration for my middle finger pinwheel came from Holy Manicures.  My index finger is pretty is pretty self explanatory and my thumb is simple stripes with a few scattered polka dots.

I had a lot of fun creating this mani.  I hope to be able to wear it for a few days so I can admire my handy work for a while. ;)
