Neopolitan Nails

7 May

Mmmm… ice cream. Om nom nom.   Dieting is hard.  I frequently find myself thinking about food I can’ have on the program I’m doing.  Ice cream is one of those foods.  I miss it.  While I wouldn’t put Neopolitan ice cream in my top three favorite flavors, it is yummy and makes for a great manicure.

I had trouble deciding which order I wanted to do these colors in, but finally chose to put the brown nearest to my skin.  You know those nougat-ish type Neapolitan candies where the white middle is coconut?  You know what I’m talking about?  This mani makes me think of those candies.  I can almost taste them when I look at these pictures.

My “chocolate” was Sinful Colors Nirvana, the “vanilla” is China Glaze White on White and my “strawberry” is OPI Pink Friday.  I topped this off with Poshé top coat which I’m really loving lately.  It dries quickly with no shrinkage and has a beautiful shine.  While I love Seche Vite and Jordana Quick Shine, they both have shrikage problems.  So far, I haven’t found that with Poshé.

That’s pretty mean to yourself, painting your nails like that when you can’t have icecream :D Awesome job too, which just makes it meaner :)

what do you mean by shrinkage in the Seche Vite?

    • TopCoatIt August 23, 2012 at 5:51 pm #

Some top coats shrink when they dry causing the polish underneath to shrink with it. It pulls your polish away from the tip and edges of your nail. It’s hard to explain. Certain combinations are worse than others. I’ll see what I can do about capturing a photo of some shrinkage for you.

Ahhh yeah, I didn’t know that was what was happening!!! I hate seeing white tips within 24 hours. Ok. Thanks
